The Dewalt has a vacuum attachment and that is good for me.
Even at the farm and fleet these things are $225.
At the local discount hardware store they have the Skil
brand for $70. This is a fixed base unlike the Dewalt.
This Skil model actually feels pretty good in my hands:
trigger pull on the handle and what looks like a button
on top of the handle to maintain speed.
The big thing to do with the router is rabbets for
flush mount... none of this stuff I've ever done. That's
why I start all these discussions in Craftsmen forum so that
other readers know they are not alone if starting from scratch.
Simple things like putting a workmate together can look
pretty challenging if you are not around tools all day. I think
that's why they were on deal. ;-)
