I think if you reflect on it, the in-and-out thing probably isn't that big a deal. If you really do use them constantly that way, you'll probably bugger up the heads in short order and replace them anyway.

I use square-drive screws sometimes, because I got them at a lumber yard going-out-of-business sale. They're fine really, just too expensive for me given that I get along just as well with phillips head. Can't beat the square drive for no-slip though.
