I have had some really excellent tuners in the past. The best sounding was one that I had back in the seventies, a huge Kenwood 600T. This Kenwood was just before the onset of "Digital" tuners. I found that most digital tuners I tried were subject to producing "Listener Fatigue" a phenomenon that made you want to stop listening after a short period of time but just couldn't put your finger on why.

The next best was a Magnum/Dynalab that tuned in the analogue domain but had a digital readout. If I was ever to purchase an FM tuner again it would probably be another Magnum/Dynalab.
