In hindsight I think the Linus1 was more balanced than the Linus2 but with the additional tweeters the Linus2 improved coverage for standing listeners. I agree with Fred that the Fountek-based designs are far better sounding and worth the extra $.If someone is on a limited budget I would start with the RS8 modified to use a single ribbon per side. The additional ribbons could be added at a later time. The Dayton 7" is an excellent driver and much better in tonal quality / lower distortion compared to the MCM and Vifa 5" drivers used in the Linus designs.
