OK, lets say we start with a 200 watt amp (for 8 ohms as stated by manufacturer) into one of my 8 ohm Lowther speakers. I add a BSC circuit with an elevated parallel resistance to balance the SPL response and now the resistive load is approaching 16 - 20 ohms. If you ratio to get the power the amp will deliver, assuming that it is linear with resistance, then my 200 watt amp into 8 ohms is now an 80 watt amp into 20 ohms. This amp works well with the Lowther but suppose I am not using such an efficient driver ..... I want to be able to drive any speaker load.I like having extra power, it gives me great flexibility in my speaker designs. I am also really interested in the monoblocks since this will allow me to put the amp right next to the speaker and have a very short speaker cable.
Those are some of my thoughts,
