The JBL 2242 works pretty well in cabinets designed for the 2241. Their electro-mechanical parameters are different, but they are each tuned to work well in 10ft3 cabinets tuned to 35Hz. They actually have a pretty wide range of good alignments, from basically 6ft3 to 12ft3 and from 30Hz to 40Hz tuning. This broad range makes them relatively insensitive to cabinet tuning and very tolerant of parameter shifts over their operating range. Both the JBL 2241 and the 2242 are robust high-quality designs that offer consistent performance over a wide range of conditions.
