The issue of how to design a bearing that can handle all that mass is critical. Thats why the Platine hangs the platter over opposing magnetic strips that bear the weight of the platter but allow it to rotate.
Someday I would like to hear this table. There's a guy in Jersey that used to sell them but he works by appointment only.
Or build one maybe.
