Lon, The first kit I ever built was a foreplay about 3 years ago when they first came out. I knew almost nothing of electronic construction. The instructions are very comprehensive with simple step-by-step increments easily seen in the supplied photos. The text is well written and easily followed. If you can assemble knock down furniture and if you can solder you can do it. Mine is still working and it launched me on many more projects with what I learned from the Foreplay. Part a goes into part b like so, tyhats what you get. The slideshow you describe would be needed for more complicated things but the foreplay is too simple to require that.
