I've never owned such a devise. But if it's not working properly as you described. Your using it, not abusing it, and it's under warranty. Why not take it back.
I can't manage any device that tries to give me issues within weeks of purchase if it is under warranty. I learnt my lessons in the past, and once a device such as the projector starts giving issues from the early days of purchase, I will simply return it to where I got it from.
