There's great speakers that can be had commercially, or the used market. Some of the classics of old they say can compete with the ones of today and better. The DIY bug bit me when I was younger and more impoverished. That was an avenue with the quality and performance I craved over. Even now I'm not inclined to spend whatever K it would take to get performance. I've attained it with DIY I think. So, I'm satisfied.
