It's a shame that the company didn't sell the software to someone else when they were they were going under. Take some money on the way out and not disrupt the customers they did have.
That's the issue that they had back then. I would say a lot of things are changing for the better right now with how major investors are getting interested. The link below talks about how Humanoid, a robotic company, was able to raise $1.4 billion from investors. You can check it out.
