DIY have been a simple work for anybody that paid attention to their homes because there are many things that one can help themselves out to do. Fixing an electrical outlet is not hard if you had a little experience but for this, I think a professional is needed to know if the wire will pass the wall or fix it inside the wall, checking the loads on it as well.

I'm planning to redesign my room to accommodate a new set of speakers and a TV monitor. I will need an additional electrical outlet for these gadgets. Do you think an extension electrical cord will do the job or should I have a fixed electrical outlet in the walls?
If I were in your shoes, I would go with a fixed wall outlet that I could construct myself. I am never comfortable with going with an extension cord in such a situation because there are chances that the wires can overheat depending on the type of the power demands of your gadgets.

There is also that possibility that most extension cords won't last more than a year before it develops issues.

So, constructing a proper outlet is cleaner, safer, and appropriate for the long-term.

Are you going to DIY, or would you go with the option of hiring an electrician to do the job for you?
