249th Independence Day!

We ain't perfect, but we are fellow countrymen!  And we have it pretty good here.  So I celebrate the day with all you of, my American friends!

And for all our friends outside our country, please join us in celebration of our freedom!

I remember our 200th.  For some reason, I associate that celebration with the album Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton.  It was super popular around that time.  Lots of "good energy" too.

I associate our 250th with the album Beautifully Broken by Jelly Roll.  It is an album about personal struggle, growth, and resilience. That's more how I see America today.

Both eras were good in many ways but difficult in a few ways too.  I feel like the 1960s and 1970s were a time when America was like a pre-teenager, full of energy and learning to use its strength.  These days, we're full on late-teenagers, with all that entails. Sometimes I can complain about little things here and there - sometimes actually pretty big things - but both then and now, I've really got it good.  We all do.

Congrats, my friends!  Thanks for being such good neighbors here in the good-ol' U S of A!
