Your local plumbing supply likely has small squares that have cork in the middle and rubber on the top and bottom.  They are used to keep the vibrations from heaters and air conditioners from transmitting their noise and vibrations into floors.   They work great under speakers.

They are very cheap but do tend to smell like a rubber factory when new.  A week or two out on the back porch generally makes them more acceptable.

They tend to be available in 2" squares and 4" squares.  You can likely get a bunch of them for $10 or $20.
