Hi, guys
I just finished a home demo of the Vitus Audio SS-103 MkII stereo power amp during the holiday. The price that the seller quoted for this 85kg heavy-duty is $49,000 slightly negotiable...maybe we can settle around $48,000.
I had to pair it with my Magnepan 20.7 speakers, SL-103 pre and the vinyl setup. Played it in full class A- dead-black noise floor, heavy bass, smooth dynamics, silky highs. Many tracks felt alive like I've got the band right there in my room!
I truly enjoyed the moments, but the cost for it got me second-guessing.
Don't get me wrong, I am ready to spend for the best out there, but is this truly worth it? Should I make the final payment?
Do we have owners or anyone who's heard about it?

Paying $49,000 for the SS-103 MKII is not what I would do if I were in your shoes as there are better options out there.
I am not saying that getting this Vitus brand won't give you a great outcome if everything clicks, but I feel that there are better options in the market that you should check like the used DartZeel NHB-458 monoblocks. I couldn't get the new one when I checked the market, but I got this fairly used one from Audiogon.com 2 years ago for $48,000. I don't know if you've finally made a decision to get the Vitus SS-103, but if not, then check out this machine that I mentioned above even though it is scarce in most online marketplaces right now.
It was worth every penny spent to get it.

My granddad has this DartZeel NHB-458 monoblocks and that piece has been around for a while now. I don't know if he got it new or bought a used one, but I can attest that it was a great buy that has served its purpose over a period.
What I can't say right now is if it is a better choice than going for the Vitus SS-103 MkII. Just maybe, the difference might not be that huge.

I've heard much about the DartZeel NHB-458 monoblocks. They are the beast and provide super sounds for what it is, and honestly speaking, I would have gone for it assuming it is not a used one.
I mean, my fear with used devices is how long has it been used, and would it last for years considering the amount that I am planning to spend on it? How about the performance after a couple of weeks? Is it sustainable or was inconsistent performance the reason the seller wants to let it go? There is a lot to think about, mate.
The one you got, how has the performance been, and were there any tips that you used that helped you in making a choice of vendor on Audiogon.com. Feel free to share.
