Refurbishing An Old Radio / Turntable [message #96333]

Are there any stores that specialize in items needed to restore very old audio equipment? I have no idea how old this item is, except to say that the turntable is built like nothing I've seen before. I can take pics tomorrow, and send them here shortly after, but I was just wondering if the typical home improvement stores would have what I need, or should I look elsewhere?

Yeah, unfortunately, you'll have to source parts from the web, so it might be tough to determine what you need without a professional giving it a look. Sadly, there aren't many brick and mortar shops that specialize in repairing and refurbishing antiques anymore.

Yeah, brick and mortar has gone online. There was probably a huge surge of businesses making that change back when Covid first hit.

I'm looking forward to those pictures, buddy. I'm a fan of the old stuff.

We get busy and things get pushed back.

I'm semi-retired, so it will happen soon. I'm mainly intrigued by the turntable.

I have heard about a couple of speciality stores and online sites whose work is selling parts that can assist in restoring vintage audio equipment such as turntables.

I would have recommended stores such as Lowe's, but last I checked, they deal mainly in general hardware and electronics like wires.

Turntable Medic is one that I believe can be o help as they specialise in sourcing parts and repairing vintage turntables, changers, and console stereos.

Ebay is another online marketplace that you can check out, but you need to do a specific search for the vintage turntable part/model that you are looking for.

If you are not too confident to buy online, you should use the Google Map to search for "vintage audio repairs close by" and hopefully the map can pop up with some choices of physical stores that you should look at to see if they got the parts that you need.

The best decision for anyone who cares to listen is to visit a physical store. You are able to make choices on the material that you need to revive your vintage turntable.
