I've been seriously contemplating getting a customised solid-state amp. I am talking about a situation where I can be able to decide the components to be used, being able to tweak the EQ curves and even going as far as customising the chassis design to fit my setup.

Don't get me wrong, I've used popular brands like Marshall solid state and Fender and even though they were cheaper, I felt they were generic.

A customised amp allows one to do a lot such as the ability to set up a special sound for your type of music, say warmer tones for jazz.

Do you feel paying the premium price for customised solid-state amps is justified or is it just hype?
