I am a man in my 60s, and in those days, playing vinyl records on the turntable was always a blast. Nowadays, it seems most people have moved to playing music on digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and others.
Don't misunderstand me, streaming music via these digital platforms looks easy and convenient. I mean, one can get to play any album they wish with a simple search on Spotify, for example.
However, I feel like something is missing. I miss that vinyl ritual.
That feeling of going through the crates is looking for that album that is on your mind.
The joy that comes with finding it quickly.
That act of quickly brushing it to clean off the dust before placing it on a turntable. The sound of the first crackle before the music starts.
Staying close to the full side with no skipping allowed.
That makes one listen to every song on the album without missing any, which is what the artist wanted in the first place.
It is so different from digital.
Digital kind of looks like watching a movie on your phone, unlike vinyl, which can be likened to going to the cinema to experience movie watching on a different level.
Does anyone have this exact feeling, or am I just thinking aloud?
Do you think the "vinyl ritual" was worth it, or was it overrated? I mean, are you happier with the digital streaming of songs nowadays?
If you miss the days of vinyl records, are you now actively collecting?
