I’m definitely not an expert, but with kids running around and everything getting dusty all the time, I try to clean the connections every few months just to keep things sounding decent. I use something simple like DeoxIT because it’s quick, and I don’t have to fuss with it too much. I just unplug everything, give the connectors a light spray, and that’s it.

Other than that, I just try to keep the area tidy and make sure the cables aren’t being tugged or bent. With a busy house, that alone seems to make a big difference.
