I haven’t tried mounting an amp under a desk, but I have seen pictures and it does look really tidy. I don't think there are any downsides to keeping it underneath the desks. The only thing to look out for is to watch out for heat, since amps can get warm.

Maybe leaving a few inches of space on top would help with airflow. I’m not sure if there are many extra benefits besides saving space.
