Movie awards aim to recognise top performers in different movie categories such as actor of the year, movie of the year and a host of other awards.

Do you think such an event is still relevant in today's society?

I think yes. Movie awards are still relevant in today's society because it is a way to highlight the work of actors, writers, directors and others that are not noticed even on screens especially the technicians that makes the work easier and productive.
Awards helps them to do more, inspired to achieve excellence.
