I found these 4 digital audio players and wondered if anyone has experience
with their audio quality? Audio quality is most important to me.

AIMP

Spotify

VLC

Foobar 2000

Thanks

You listed VLC - Are you referring to the open-source VideoLAN Client media player, commonly called VLC?

Opened up, Help, and it says.

"VLC Media Player
3.0.21 Vetinari
VLC Media Player is free and open source Media Player, Encorder,
and Streamer made by the volumteers of the VideoLAN community."

I really don't know much, but it plays video and/or audio, depending
upon my windows 10 setting.

I have not looked any further.

A website reviewing half a dozen players stated AIMP excels at audio
quality, but at the end of the article mentioned Foobar 2000 as being
great with audiophiles. Confusing.

I've used VLC for a long time and I really like it.  That said, it is obviously dependent upon codecs and hardware, and there are setting that can and will affect quality.

I will test my audio system tomorrow with VLC to see how the settings sound.

I have everything disabled and VLC set to see my dac in tools section.

Thanks gents and add whatever settings you think I should try.

Any others who have some input, most welcome.

I went to some videos and they were helpful.

Tools, preferences, clicked all. Clicked audio, stereo but no dolby.

Went from 4 to 10,
sync function to best quality

Under filters, lots of choices. All are left unchecked.

Do I need to do anything else?

cheers
