I was selling a couple of preamps recently and the prospective and actual buyers wanted to hear them. Three engineers were amazed the the smoothness, and especially the imaging, of my 4 Pis. All three had been exposed to or owned some pretty nice gear. At least one had just come from hearing a very expensive pre in an very expensive system. One has many pairs of nice speakers he swaps between. None expected horns to sound like these do, let alone for a system with SET amps to excel at traditional high end priorities.

My implementation is far from optimized, mind you. Very near field. Long wall. Too much gain, in part because of the 3 stage 845 amps. Speakers probably too far apart to get around the excessively wide amp shelf. Nearly no time dedicated to speaker placement.

If you are contemplating getting or building a pair, do it. If you've already got a pair, I hope you feel as lucky as a I do.
