I'm fine with reading (Kindle) on flights without listening to any music or podcasts. I don't watch movies on the plane, either. I want to hear the pilot's announcements and the attendants pushing their carts.

I think a good rule of thumb is, keep your seatbelt fastened. And do whatever to occupy your mind to pass the time.

I generally bring a good book and always keep the seat belt around me. Ask a few of the folks on the Malaysian plane if they wished they had.

Good Listening

I'd like to give a shoutout to the Bose QuietComfort line. I've used their over-the-ear headphones and their earbuds to tune out many a dull traveler who's determined to talk about their multilevel marketing opportunity. Usually, the stewardess will get my attention if there's something that I need to know, so I don't feel like I'm missing out.

Just the earbuds that came with my iPhone. I keep my packing minimal and bring stuff I don't mind losing or breaking. Except for my phone and if I have to bring it, my laptop.

Have you heard of the term "raw dogging" (no entertainment, not even food or drink or sleep) when it comes to flying? No thank you!

How manly they are. All part of our wacked out popular culture. Hardly anything to give note to or care about.

There's scene on Curb Your Enthusiasm where Jeff Garlin raw dogs. He just sits there looking straight ahead the whole flight. No surprise, Larry David thinks it's weird.
