I've been on a Jazz bender, principally by a couple of sax men of the golden age of jazz. Gene Ammons or Mean Gene I call him. He plays a mean mellow sax. Swings real nice.
From the album High Fidelity Jam Session.
Then there's, The Hawk. Coleman Hawkins. Goes way back, and again, he's got that swing thing.
Here jammin live with old Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho.

Yep, I've watched some of his videos. The bass player is usually relegated to anonymity. Unless they can sing, like Paul McCartney or Sting, Willie Dixon. But I've liked picking up on what the bass man, or woman, plucks. Like Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads or Bruce Thomas, one of the Attractions of Elvis Costello, or the tattooed mysterious junkie bassist of the blues band Fabulous Thunderbirds. Whose monkey on his back, literally and figuratively shortened his life.
