My votes go to The Last of Us, Beef, and Barry. I've heard good comments about Reservation Dogs, and I'm really slowly working through Succession.

My girlfriend watches The Last of Us and is a dedicated fan of the show. I don't know why she likes it so much, because it makes her cry her eyes out. When Sarah died, I thought my girlfriend would die along with her. She gets deep into it. I can't say that I like the show, but I did enjoy the video the game that it's based off of.

I haven't seen many great TV shows this year, oddly enough. I guess Poker Face comes the closest. It's pretty funny and entertaining.

As I mentioned earlier, in another thread, both Kelly and I loved Bosch. We also loved Lincoln Lawyer, which is sort of similar. "Bosch" is a cop show and "Lincoln Lawyer" is a show about a lawyer, but they kinda feel similar to me.

Older series that we just watched this year include Goliath and The Firm. "Goliath" has leading actor Billy Bob Thorton. "The Firm" is a series that was sort of a sequel to the 1990s movie of the same name starring Tom Cruise, but the leading actor in the series was Josh Lucas.

Kelly is loving Night Agent. I gotta catch up with her on that one. We usually watch together, but she got ahead of me on that one. We're anxious to watch the latest episodes of Reacher. We've also re-viewed Mad Men and I'm re-watching Halt and Catch Fire.

I watch a ton of car shows on Motortrend too. Love all the stuff with Freiburger, Finigan, Dulcich and Brule. Lucky Costa and Tony Angelo too.

Tons of good stuff. Too much to mention off the top of my head. Bummed that Amazon has decided to run ads even on their paid service unless you pay a little bit more. Greedy bastards! Laughing

I don't watch many pay channel shows simply because I'm such a tight wad with the scheme. But the freevee app on the old roku has opened up possibilities. That's how I got a hold of Bosch. Probably the most compelling cop show I've ever seen. He lives on black coffee and whiskey done up neat and Fat Tire beer. You never see the guy eat. I've started to watch the new Fargo season my sister gave access to with the Sling app. Why anyone would pay for that app with the most commercials per viewing I don't know. But, I can't bitch

I've read the show The Old Man which left viewers hanging by its cliffhanger break from Jeff Bridges cancer scare then the writers strike will return. So old Jeff popped a viagra and is raring to get it on again I reckon.

The Lincoln lawyer is a fine movie of seamy jurisprudence. Check out Killer Joe, Wayne. Matthew McConaughey plays a corrupt detective that hires out for hits. And the True Detective series that he and Woody Harrelson teamed up to solve a psycho killer case.

Oh dude, that sounds killer. Killer Joe! And I also need to check out The Old Man 'cause I'm sure that one is awesome too.

We watch a ton of stuff on Freevee. It's probably our most-used streaming app.

Yeah, Bosch is a good one, but I don't believe it's a 2023 show. You got anything more recent? I'm like Strum Drum, no show has blown me away this year. I've seen plenty of great movies this year, but no must-see TV shows.

You're right that Bosch was released several years ago, but Bosch Legacy came out in 2022 and its second season came out October 2023.

In spite of the name change, it's essentially just a continuation of the seven-season "Bosch" series. It basically starts as season eight and so its second season would be like Bosch season nine. Smile

The real Bosch Legacy. The Dutch painter. His painting The Garden of Earthly Delights is a triptych consisting of the left panel depicting the Garden of Eden, the center panel is The Garden of Earthly Delights and the right panel.... Hell.
Hieronymus Bosch life is not well documented. But judging from this painting. This guy was one gone cat. What an imagination. His depiction of hell would have scared the bejesus out of people back then. Pretty wild by todays standards.

More info from Wikipedia and an enlargement of this painting.

My partner is a big fan of Reacher. He said he appreciates that the lead actor fits the book description well, compared to Tom Cruise in the movies.
