Okay, so the thread title is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's not far off from the truth. I recently ditched my SiriusXM subscription, so maybe that's why I'm noticing the commercials more than usual. Still, it feels like they only play three songs tops, before the onslaught of commercials takes over. The advertisements last for ages, too. Have you guys noticed this as well? It doesn't seem to matter which channel I listen to, as they all have this issue.

I don't do streaming but I've noticed both in print journalism and tv news that there seems to be more advertising. And takes up more time and space. Really annoying for online print media. Crap popping up all over the place. I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time closing all this junk. Where it's all going no one knows. Don't bode well though.

I'm no expert, but I think if radio stations played the minimum amount of commercials they had to in order to keep their license, they would make the minimum amount of money.

I read somewhere that radio stations have no way of knowing just how many people are tuned in at any given time. I thought they did, and that's how they based how much they can get from advertisers.

It plays into the amount of commercials that are on a radio station, I'm sure.
