What do you think? I just "inherited" this a few days ago, and I love it! I don't even know yet if there is any kind of antennae I can bring out to get better reception, but it's fine for now. I just like the way it looks.
I am in mountainous territory in the rim country of Arizona, so I'm not expecting miracles in terms of reception. lol

Hi. Howdy from southern AZ (Sierra Vista) Your radio looks a lot like a Philco Barn radio I have. It uses a long wire for an antenna. In my case you just string it out for as far as you can. 10 feet is about minimum but up to 100 feet is better. Mine actually ran on batteries and I had to make a power supply for it (it was for use in ...get this... a barn where there was no power). Some radios of similar vintage had flat loop antennas stuck on the inside of the back cover. Some had both loop and long wire types.
Nice. They look like they were made in the same time period. But there is no lid on top and the back is secured, so I don't know where I could string a wire without taking the back off. Even then, it's a maybe.
That Crosley looks to be in good shape. The only thing I would do, that I can see, is take the nameplate off and give it a good varnishing. Make it shine.

Hi I would not use a general purpose varnish. Instead I like to use Howard Restor-A-Finish and use Feed-N-Wax. They are designed for restoration of vintage wood. They work well on projects like yours.
Wait a second, from the way you guys are talking about them, your old radios still work.
You didn't have to convert them to digital or anything like that?
