CD's are a budget minded choice now. I'm a platter lover forever so I welcome it though with a sigh as LP's have gotten so expensive. During the dominance of cd's, records and vintage equipment were a bargain. So the market has flipped. Who knows, the future may do it's fickle finger of fate again in a nostalgia for the promise of "perfect sound forever" after the baby boomers become a footnote in history.

I'll digress on that for a moment on that one. I have a disk set with the Laugh-In series on it. So great to see all the laughin', drinkin' and smokin'! Just awesome.
I don't drink or smoke anymore though. Still, good times!
On the vinyl albums, that's freaking hysterical. And awesome. I can remember 20 years ago when some audiophiles lamented that the audio apocalypse was here 'cause there were no vinyl lovers anymore.
But we've always been a small niche bunch and for some reason, we never see that. We think we're shrinking, but in fact, we've never been a large group.
All that aside, I think the main reason CD has declined is most kids today download audio files onto whatever media they own rather than to purchase some sort of removable media.

Just a matter of time ..... The nay sayers were wrong. Not that it mattered to me with 6 turntables and many LPs. The cost though is bad..but the days when I could get a new LP for under $3 are long past and if you go by inflation $25-30 is probably not out of line. Thinking back I was only getting paid about 5K a year...now my retirement is more than that per month.
I have quite a few LPs from the 70s to the 90s. I'm guessing around a hundred. After the move is over I'll be going through them and, if any are unplayable, I'll just order replacements from an online store.
