"Rally 'round the family" - Friends, John Busch needs our help.

Most of you know John. If you've ever been to LSAF, you've seen him. He has been there every year since the beginning. He always brings a killer set of open baffle speakers and usually several.

He is the soft-spoken guy with an intelligent sense of humor. Not a quick wit or a sharp wit, but kinda. Smart but not cynical, fun but not silly. That's John.

So anyway, forum member "Pano" wrote to me yesterday to say John is having health problems. It ain't covid - and he would definitely want me to say that. But it's pretty serious. I'm hoping for the best, as I know you all are, and we see a complete recovery.

Still, no matter what the future brings for John, he needs our help now. He needs someone - or a small group of folks - to inventory his stuff and buy it or sell it on eBay. He could probably use some other help too.

John lives in Kerrville, Texas. That's 100 miles straight west from Austin on Highway 290.

Might be nice just to hear from his friends too. I have his phone number, so if you want to call him, I know he would appreciate it. Send me a private message, an email or just pick up the phone and call me. I'll give you John's contact information.

Hey everyone. As Wayne mentioned, John is in a bad way. He's not going to be doing any more speaker building so he needs to get rid of a storage unit full of stuff. Woofers large and small, 100s of tweeters, crossover caps, power resistors, inductors, midrange, tube amps, etc.

John's brothers visited the storage unit and took a lot of photos. In a few days I can post those here if Wayne's OK with it. In 2018 I helped John with his inventory, so we should be able to assemble a good list of what's there.

Yes, please do post. We normally put stuff for sale in the Swap Meet forum, but I'd like this thread to remain in the Tower.

Pano has posted that John has passed away.

John spent a good bit of the Lone Star Show giving advice and teaching others the fine craft of crossover design. He was very generous with his knowledge.

He was cantankerous and brilliant and somehow made that odd combo work for him. Loved spending time with him and his creations.

Yes John passed away last night. He was a tough old bird right up to the end. John had amazing audio design skills and hearing. I've never met anyone quite like him. He tought me more than I can even fathom.

I'm still not sure what's going to happen to all his stuff. John wanted me there to sell it, but it's not possible for me to do so. I have a fair number of photos of what he had in storage, plus an inventory form 2018. John wanted it all to go to a good home, or homes.

ASAP I will be helping his family with all of John's speaker inventory. I'll post here first.

Yeah, it will take some time to sink in. John was a huge asset to the speaker building community. He was an immensely talented designer who did not build any run of the mill speakers. His designs were not crazy, but certainly out of the mainstream. And his speakers sounded sooo good.

John Busch Audio Estate.

Here is what I think is in the storage unit that John left behind.

What you will see in the next post are photos of what actually IS in the storage unit. These photos were taken recently by John's brothers. So what you see in the photos is certainly there.

CAVEAT EMPTOR!
Also below you will see a list that is the 2018 inventory that John and I made. It is not currently accurate. However I have noted in the list the items that are visible in the photos. Those are listed first. As for the rest of it, there is currently no way to verify if it is there or not. So please, see the list of things only as "These might be there." Some of it certainly is, but we don't know details.

If that is not clear, please contact me about it. I want everyone to understand that because of the situation, we do not know exactly what is there. It's a best guess based on the old inventory, the photos, and what John told me about 3 weeks ago.
