I'm still a sort of novice when it comes to technicalities, so don't be mean.

If you get speakers that were made in the '60s and want to swap out the wires, can you? Has there been a major difference in gauge sizes and different size gauges on the market through the decades?

Sure! Just get some pure copper stranded speaker wire and solder it in place of the old wire. Use wire that's 18 gauge or larger.

18 or larger.......got it. Thank you for that. It's a side project that helps take my mind off other things, and I always did like restoring old things.

That's good to know. I've run into projects like this and wasn't sure whether it was a better idea to restore or replace. At least I now know that the wires are replaceable.

And don't forget. Larger gauge wire means a smaller number. 16 gauge is larger thicker wire than 18, etc.

I noticed that years ago, but since my tinkering is part-time, I tend to forget details. I have bought a book though explaining electricity on a basic level, and that's a good reference tool as well.
