I know that stereo's can be insured, but what about albums, CD's, etc...? Do any of you have your audio gear insured? If so, what all do you have on your policy?
Hi Miami - my uncle has a huge vinyl collection and I believe he has it insured. I don't really know anything about the vinyl market, but some of his records are nearly fifty years old so I imagine they are worth a lot. Though it would be nothing compared to the sentimental value, as he's obsessed with them!
I never realized that you could put insurance on music items. I figured that the stereo equipment would just be included in your renter's or homeowner's insurance. Where can you go to purchase this special type of insurance?
I would try State Farm. They seem to know quite a bit about the insurance game. Some musical items that are not made for playing music, can be quite valuable so insurance would be the wise thing to do.
I'd never considered purchasing insurance for my music items! It makes a lot of sense, honestly. When I rented, I was told that my insurance would cover the loss of my personal items in the event of a disaster. I wonder if this would have included my CDs and instruments?
It hasn't crossed my mind up until now that there's such a thing as music insurance. This is something I will consider if ever I buy an instrument or other audio gear.
Wow, I would love to have a collection that is worth insuring (albums that is). My system is insured in my home owners policy. I wonder if people list their collections in a policy like that.
