Remember this Star Trek episode?
Our brave crew finds these blob-looking creatures on a planet.
What bad luck, one flies onto Spock's back, injecting him with its stinger and making him crazy with terrible pain!
But never fear - Spock has an idea that bright sunlight can kill these things.
So he uses himself as a guinea pig and blasts himself with enough light to kill the organism inside him. And it works!
Sadly, it makes Spock blind. Didn't think of that. But what good luck after all - Vulcans have an inner eyelid that protects him, so he eventually regains his sight!
