How can I improve the audio that comes from my Bluetooth speakers. When I connect them to my phone's playlist the music often starters and skips.

Sounds like the connection is bad. You might try moving the speakers closer to the source.

Ah, I was afraid of that. It was a bad idea to sync my phone with the speaker in the first place. I'll try it with one of our tablets instead, since I use the phone too often for moving it closer to be handy. Thanks!
