I made an inquiry about cleaning the vinyl and my grandfather's collection is clean now.
What about cassette tapes this time, how do we remove the molds at the side of the reel?

I remember manually spinning the "wheels" and taking Q-Tips dipped in rubbing alcohol against the tape as it was moving in order to clean the tape.
We did it that way because it wasn't recommended to take it apart.
There are also head cleaners you can buy to clean the heads on the player itself. It is a cleaning cassette, basically.
