What safety gear must we have before building our own projects? Goggles and gloves are the gear I have in mind right now. It might sound silly, but do I need a protective gear for my head?

Hi, googles or glasses for soldering, drilling and cutting things; gloves can be good for woodworking; ear protection for routers and high speed cutting tools (in metal mostly). Head protection...I never build anything big enough that might fall on my head. As a must have I find that good ventilation (soldering, painting etc) and good lighting (all the time) will cut down the chances of getting hurt.
I never considered good lighting as part of being safe, but now that you mentioned it, then I think it is very essential when we are working with something. Facial mask might be good when there will be dust in our workplace.
