Pardon my ignorance, but can we use a walkie talkie as a radio to listen to radio stations? I know it is a type of radio, but I don't know if we can use them for listening to a radio station.

Ever tried to tune into your favorite station? Can't find it, can you?

Walkie-talkies operate on a different frequency range than commercial broadcast radio stations.

So if a radio has a capability to be on the same frequency range as the broadcasting radios, then I will be able to tune in to any radio station. Got it now and thanks.

I asked the question because I was wondering if the portrayal of some war movies are correct where the soldiers were listening to some kind of walkie talkie. Maybe my eyes fooled me into thinking that it was a talkie, but actually a small radio.
