My mom is big on estate sales and I got dragged along with her last weekend to one. I found a Panasonic SG-V33 for next to nothing and I felt like I couldn't not get it...even though I know next to nothing about vinyl players. As soon as I turned it on, it started humming, and it does that every time I turn it on. Any ideas what could be causing it?

Hi, If it has been unused for a while it is likely the grease in it has gummed up. A very common issue. The result is the motor can not operate properly and will hum loudly. Alternatively since you didn't specify what the hum was, is that the audio circuity is at fault. Various components age and fail plus connections between components can develop corrosion and not work well. I would ask the question on the vinylengine.com forums. There are folks there that have knowledge of nearly any piece of gear related to playing vinyl.

Good Listening
