Hi, I buy nearly everything on line. For many components there is no alternative. A few of the best places are Parts Express, MCM, Mouser, Digikey, Allied, Antique Electronic Supply, and Jameco. There are many others if in doubt ask us.
These days buying things online is something that most people do, so there are a lot of reliable sites. However, yes, it is possible to run into some scammers.
A big YES. The convenience and speed with which you can shop online makes it the only option for most people. I also believe that you get more variety here. Just ensure to settle on the reputable companies.

Hi, Something to add to my earlier post....I find that Amazon now carries a lot of electronic components. Many are prime and I can get them delivered to me in two days. A number of other suppliers are getting the message as well and sending things quickly without big postage charges. Since the nearest parts store of any kind is over 70 miles from here and they don't have many of the specialized parts I use the on line sellers are essential to my builds.
That's quite something gofar and I think that's the reason Amazon still leads, in terms of speed and convenience. Getting scammed is easy, especially when people settle for unknown online sellers.
