I'll add composing your own music, creating catchy jingles, and teaching others how to play to the music hobby list. There's also songwriting and singing. Making the instruments and tinkering with them is considered a hobby by many.

I agree with you. I actually learned how to play the guitar through a good friend. As much as I was paying for the same, I know that my friend was looking at it as a hobby.
I will add music arrangement to the list. We often hear cover songs with unique style over on YouTube or the remix versions of many songs. Sometimes they even produce songs I enjoy better than the original one. It's a talent worthy of respect.
Some people actually make a hobby out of collecting music of different genres. They have thousands of cases of disks, vinyl, etc. Just about any kind of music and form of music that you can think of.

Many of us build equipment. We build things like amplifiers and speakers. Some of us build from kits, others build from scratch. We also measure the performance of the equipment in various aspects, so we know where we are making progress and where we need to improve.
My brother collects different media and has many 8-tracks, CDs, DVDs and other stuff I don't even know what it is. He also makes his own amps and equipment that he uses for audio. I'm so glad that other people do this too!
I think that any music related activity can be considered a hobby. So playing an instrument, collecting vinyl records, listening to music at home, attending concerts, etc. are all music hobbies.
