Does acoustic treatment have to be expensive? Having said this, we all understand the importance of symmetry. What normally challenges me is placing the speakers in such a way that they are symmetrical to each other. How can I achieve this?

My rule of the thumb is that where possible, the high speakers should be placed on the circumference of an imaginary circle with the center point being your main listening position. Can it really get cheaper than this? All the best as I'm sure you'll get more useful tips here.
