Hi, The long delayed tube based phono preamp is nearing production. The last corrections on the third iteration of the circuit board are being done and the circuit design is finalized. Yes it is not point to point. I hate to tell all the nay sayers but there are some times a high quality board works better and this is one of them. The preamp will not be initially offered as a kit. We figure that there is fair likelihood of construction errors and we have not yet developed the necessary instructions to insure success. The active circuit is all tubes with supporting components like rectifiers and regulators being solid state. (sorry purists, this combination works exceptionally well) The base version is MM with optional (extra cost) SUTs for LOMC. The SUTs chosen are Lundahl 1678 or 9226. They were selected for best value and consistently good performance. Either will fit on the boards. While the specs and such for the 1678 make it seem inferior to the 9226, I prefer it over the 9226. Incidentally a project based on a variation of the preamp is scheduled to be in an up coming issue of Audio Express. That DIY version (if built well) should be very close to the production one in sound quality. After countless prototypes (nearly 7 years worth) it is finally on the glide slope.
Good Listening

No price yet as we haven't sorted out the chassis fully. I do not expect it to be cheap (how could it be with the optional SUTs running about $200 a set), but then the ones we most often get compared to by our beta testers are a bit pricey. We want it to be a good value alternative without breaking the bank.
Good Listening
