Quick question from a totally tech challenged person. Does the size of the room affect the quality of sound, and if so, which is better a small room or a large one?
The size matters inasmuch as that determines what you need to put in the room in order to achieve the acoustical quality you're looking for. Or rather, listening for I guess.

Larger. Room modes are stronger in smaller rooms.
But by saying "larger," I mean really large, like several thousand square feet.
Small and medium size rooms (like one would expect in a home) are improved with damping material. Framed drywall helps damp modes, because the panels vibrate and absorb energy. Carpeting, drapes and furniture also damp the sound.
