Is it only me or the airwaves are full of advertisements and music as opposed to some years ago? It could also be that we are at an age where companies are using this medium for ads so as to reach a greater population. I tune in whenever I want to get the latest international news.
I listen to the radio mainly for news and NPR. Before I got my turntable back out I would listen for music every now and then, but I own all the music I need at this point.
For me, radio is meant for news and information. I hardly tune in to listen to any kind of music. It is true that radio isn't what it was a decade ago.
I've stopped listening to the radio in the car (which is the only place that I listen to the radio) because there is never anything on. By the time I've gotten to my destination I've only heard one song. There are definitely too many ads on the radio.
I listen mainly for music and news. My favorite news station are NPR, BBC, and Fox. I'm not a habitual radio user but I normally listen during my commute back and forth to work.
I don't mind advertisements if they aren't annoying or too long, I find interesting promotions/deals and events oftentimes.
I only ever listen to the radio while I'm driving. I do think that there are way too many ads but sometimes the shows are fun and you get to learn new stuff.
