I am currently looking into a wireless surround sound system for my living room. I don't like how most wired systems limit you to where you can place your speakers. I have a very large room, so I was wondering how far apart these speakers can go? If they go too far will they become out-of-range?
It seems like around 20 feet is the best distance. Any further than that and the sound may be unbalanced. Other than distance, placement of the speakers is also important. They are usually placed in front of you, forming a triangle, with same distance between all points. They can also be placed to your sides, slightly at the back.

I had never thought that there was a limit as to the distance in which the speakers can be placed. This could be the reason that the sound quality in some rooms is usually not that good.
I am also looking to buy a wireless system soon and so this information will really be of help.
I spend hundreds of hours over a few months using multiroom wireless speakers in every room and even outside. I have to say we are extremely happy with the results, and I know that you will be too.
We had our first experience with surround sound about a year ago when we wired the TV. The den is 20 feet long and seems to be the perfect setting. 2 speakers beside the TV and 2 at the other end of the room give a theater sound affect. We love it!!
