I read an article a few weeks back that states that electronic devices today are getting harder and harder to fix. Do you think that they are doing this on purpose so that you have to throw it away and go out and buy new?

Yes, many devices now are made cheaply with the expectation that they be replaced rather than repaired.

I think that is the case with most electronics nowadays. For instance, a TV that would last you 10 years back in the day probably can give you service for around 5 years now. Either way, it is better to go for quality because cheap becomes expensive in the long run.
