Not sure what the issue is! I was in my mother's car the other day, and I went to turn on the radio during our drive. She stopped me and said it no longer worked, I tried it...and sure enough, it was dead. It didn't do anything. Is it cheaper to buy a new one for the vehicle than fix the current one?

How old is your mother's car? It's odd that it's not working, I have a car that is 12 years old and the radio works better than the car! You could probably get one under $100. If you put it in yourself it would be cheaper than paying for labor at the garage.

Hi....sounds dumb, but check for the fuse in the fuse box. There also could be one in line. Another easy thing is to check that the connectors on the rear of the radio are connected. Once in a while one will work loose. If all else fails new ones are likely better and are not too expensive. Many shops will install them for free or nearly nothing.
