I've been using Pandora for a while now and I like it other than the "Are you still listening?" prompt every hour (or however often it is). I know I could pay for a Pandora membership and get rid of that, but I'm really wondering if there are any *FREE* radio apps out there that don't do this. Anyone know?

Have you tried I Heart Radio? I haven't actually downloaded the app myself since I generally just use their website, but maybe it'll be better for you.

I don't mind the message. I can understand why they would want to reach out and verify that the stream still needs to be active. I think what I mind more is the compression used. It would be great to find a streaming music provider that broadcast high quality content.

I'm talking about dynamic compression mostly, but lossy data compression can be bad too. Some of the steaming content is really ugly on any system better than a phone.
I haven't tried it yet, but Windows is offering a free radio app called TuneIn Radio. It sounds pretty promising and allows you to listen to stations from all over the world. I think it's worth checking out.
