Can someone explain the appeal of EDM DJ's? Do they actually create original music, or do they just mix someone else's, and then get paid a ridiculous amount of money?

Tastes differ and what they get paid is no more ridiculous than what any famous musician makes. Taking existing songs and mixing them to make a new song is a valid art form.
