Can you really get that "big speaker" sound out of these teeny tiny little speakers that come packaged in the all-in-one boxes now? What about those "sound bars?" How do they compare with larger speakers? Does larger always equal better?

My opinion:
No, you can't get big sound out of a small speaker. And yes, bigger is better.
Actually, it isn't an opinion. It's fact, described first as "Hoffman's Iron Law" and then later quantified by Neville Thiele and Richard Small in the now famous T/S formulas.

Those little speakers tend to use psychoacoustic principles to mimic the big bass sound, but it's just not the same. They aren't moving a lot of air and you don't feel it like you do with large speakers.
